8 Years Old

I'm supposed to be preparing sharing time for this Sunday, so naturally I cleaned out the linen closet and am even willing to blog as part of my procrastination. Michael's birthday was really fun, and 8 is a big one. During a marathon weekend at the end of February, we were able to celebrate with both the Dastrups and the Thompsons. After a really spectacular BYU basketball win, we had sloppy Joes and birthday cake in Springville with Grandma and Grandpa Dastrup, Benjamin, and David and Tamara and all of their kids. This was also good-bye to them before their exciting move to Columbus, OH. We sure miss you guys! Michael received a fishing pole and a promise from Grandpa Dastrup to teach him how to fish. Michael is VERY excited because we have a fishing pond near our condo. He also got a bank, a silver CTR ring, a Lego set from Benjamin, and his Cub Scout gear from his parents. He is so excited about Cub Scouts he begs to sleep in his shirt (answer always no) and pours over his Wolf book at night. We came back to Orem on Sunday and had spaghetti and brownie sundaes with the Thompsons. Michael was gifted a ridiculous :) number of old CDs from Aaron and Angie, who taught him that there are more Billy Joel albums than Greatest Hits #2, which we've had in our van for a while. He got a couple of new Wii games (our first additions to our Wii since we got it three years ago), a stuffed Raccoon from Anna that he has named Rocky, and Mega Mind from Elisa and Matt. Quite the haul for an eight year-old boy! We love this boy and were so happy to have him surrounded by family for his birthday.

LOL, I can remember when Ainsley used to tell me that she was going to marry Michael when she grew up. Well, him or Hyrum Sycamore. So of course, both of her "future husbands" are now gone. Sigh, young love. Hahahaha. Glad to hear how your family is doing.
